Town planning reform in Ingolstadt

1st Prize Europan 13

Old Town

The current development of Ingolstadt’s old town is clearly oriented towards its southern pole. Pedestrianisation and the creation of shopping streets in the centre and the construction of facilities in the vicinity of the River Danube mean that the northern part of the old town is being left behind the more everyday activities of the city.

Urban reform

This is why we have the opportunity, through an inner urban reform plan, to be able to balance the north and south poles and thus obtain a historic centre with a more atomised occupation. This atomisation will make it possible to reconfigure the city in the future to avoid situations of gentrification or uncontrolled (seasonal) tourist activity that could dissuade potential permanent residents.
